Innovation is messy. One must be willing to become Comfortable being Uncomfortable. The process involves taking risks and recognizing that failure is an essential part of the process.

In order for members of an organization to walk into this uncertainty where transformation can happen, they must be given permission from their leadership. And they must trust that permission.

So for teachers to begin to walk down this path of bringing the vitality of Deeper Learning into the classroom, they need to know that they are supported by their principal, their superintendent, and their school board.

They need to know that when they fail, they will not be shamed but encouraged to Know the Problem better, and then challenged to embark on the next round of Learning Cycles.

By so doing, they model for their students authentic, courageous, life-giving learning.
